Fires, smouldering moors, and a once-in-a-generation blaze that wiped out over 8 square miles of woodland… yet our walkers pressed on!
As the clock struck 10pm on Friday, the challenge began under moody skies and light rain showers. Through the night came owls, deer, and even a curious badger, watching as headtorches flickered across the moorland.
By sunrise at the Lion Inn, weary legs were rewarded with hot brews and high spirits ☕🌅 — proof that determination burns brighter than any fire.
Despite the fire service closing our usual route, the team adapted and pushed on — tackling 10 tough miles eastward through unpredictable terrain. The final climb at Ravenscar nearly broke them… but medals were earned, tears were shed, and pride lit up every face. 🏅🙌
HARD EVENT NOTICE – This was one of the toughest Lyke Wake Walks we’ve ever seen — but that’s exactly what makes it legendary. To every walker, finisher or not: you gave it everything. You have our respect, admiration, and heartfelt thanks from the entire Overlimits team. 💚
